Your friend or family member will need to download the Google Home app on an Android or iOS mobile device to get started. This will let them control their Wi-Fi network in the future, and if they have other compatible devices like speakers or smart lights, they can add them to the same home. If you created a new home in Step 1, you can now add your friend or family member to the home you created by inviting them. Invite your friend or family member to join the home Make sure to choose your friend or family member's home when asked what home to migrate the network to. Migrate the network from the Google Wifi app to the Google Home appįollow the steps to migrate the Wi-Fi network to the Google Home app. If you already use the Home app yourself, and need to create a new home for your friend or family member, learn how to create a home. If your friend or family member already uses the Google Home app and has a home set up, ask them to invite you to become a home member, then skip to Step 2.Äownload the Google Home app if you haven't already, then follow the in-app steps to set up a new home. If you're the owner of a friend or family member's Wi-Fi network in the Google Wifi app, you can either migrate their network to the Google Home app for them or transfer the control of that network to them in the Google Wifi app, so they can migrate the network themselves. You've previously migrated your network.You already have access to all your Google Wifi devices in the Google Home app.You originally set up your Google Wifi devices in the Google Home app.If any of the following are true the "Migrate network" option won't appear in the Google Wifi app menu and migration isn't needed for that network: If you'd like to stop migration notifications for these networks, you can remove your offline networks by using the Google Wifi app to factory reset your offline network. If it's a network you no longer use, there's no need to migrate. In some cases, you might have been notified by email or in the Google Wifi app to migrate a former network that's still in your Google Wifi app. For online networks that need to be migrated, follow the instructions above to add your Google Wifi network to the Google Home app.If a network needs to be migrated it'll show "Migrate network" below the list of your networks. If your network isn't listed you might need to switch Google Accounts. Tap Menu, then select your Wifi network.To confirm if your network needs to be migrated: If you no longer have access to the Google Wifi owner's account and can't recover your account, you need to factory reset your devices in the Google Wifi app, then set up Google Wifi again in the Google Home app. After migration is complete, remove the member from the home if desired.With the Google Wifi owner's account, add your Google Wifi network to the Google Home app.Have the owner of the account accept the invitation to join.Invite the Google Wifi owner's account to be a member of your home.Remove the original Google Wifi app member from the home if desired.Have the owner of that account accept the invitation to join.Once migration is complete, invite the account you want to use to be a member of your home.Follow the instructions above to add your Google Wifi network to the Google Home app.Check who the owner is in the Google Wifi app. Make sure you use the Google Wifi network owner's account for setup. If you don't want to use this account in the Google Home app and want to instead use a different Google Account to manage your home and Wi-Fi, you can temporarily use the owner's account found in the Wifi app to migrate your network then remove that account. Only the Google Account associated with the "Owner" of the Google Wifi network can migrate Google Wifi networks to the Google Home app.
